Beginnings of Piazza Seafood

The Piazza story begins in Sicily more than 120 years ago, fishing the Mediterranean Sea. Immigrating to the United States in the late 1800s, The Piazza Family brought their expertise to New Orleans. Piazza Seafood was born in Louisiana and we are proud of our regional roots. During the early years, seafood was sold by street merchants and the family’s beginnings in America were simple – a rugged wooden cart piled high with fresh seafood, roaming the city’s unpaved streets. In New Orleans seafood is a way of life and the family name soon earned a reputation for unmatched quality and selection. After 150 years of service, the family is still passionate about seafood.

Vincent Piazza Jr.

Vincent Piazza Jr. joined the family business in 1958 during his early teenage years with a vision of his own. He imagined a company that would offer a better value, bigger selection, and quality detailed consistency to anyone needing seafood products. He wanted to offer a larger selection setting the standard for future seafood suppliers. In 1988 he built upon his vision creating Vincent Piazza, Jr. and Sons Seafood, Inc. in Harahan Louisiana, right outside of New Orleans. This company is also known simply as, “Piazza Seafood.” Today the company’s brand of products include The “Papa Piazza”, and “Papa’s Fresh Catch” brands sold domestically throughout the United States.
